After the 21 year lease expired, the Corporation made a decision to continue to maintain the park.

The new rental was to be a much higher figure of £90 per annum, so an offer was madeto purchase the land for £2,250. It was valued at £3,900, but a compromise was eventually reached and a figure of £3,075 was agreed.

It was nearly 3 years before the deal was finalised.
