A four-face clock was donated to the town by William Potts, a Leeds clockmaker, in memory of his late father who had lived in Darlington. It was installed in the tower of Park Houselvii. The clock tower had originally been built for viewing the park but this function was now lost. The new clock, however, enhanced the character of the building as a main focal point.
